The Compass Group
Chiltern technology worked with us to solve the issue we had with unauthorised entry to the Birmingham office. They installed an intelligent entry system that meets our needs as well as maintaining the stylish design of the reception area.
The Compass Group is a leading food and support services company with an annual turnover of around £10 billion, which provides employee restaurants, coffee shops, corporate hospitality and schools meals across the UK.
One of Compass’s guiding principles is “never to compromise on the health and safety of our customers and our people”. They asked Chiltern Technology to assist when staff safety became an issue at their Birmingham office, where an open house policy was in operation. Due to a rise in crime resulting from having access open to all, Compass wanted an entry system that allowed their staff easy access, but prevented any unauthorised visitors, whilst ensuring that the system was non-intrusive and user-friendly.
Chiltern Technology worked with the facility team at Compass to assess their exact needs. Adhering to an agreed budget, Chiltern Technology devised a PC-based access control system with ID badges that uses the very latest technology to monitor access to the building. With all staff and visitors passing through the system as they enter and exit the building, everyone is now easily identifiable on site. At any time the system knows who is on site and in the event of a fire, a muster report can be automatically printed off or emailed to a PDA.
As first impressions count, it was important that any security system maintain the stylish interior design of the building’s entrance. With stainless steel, fast acting barriers and glass infill panels, the reception area was transformed, making access for staff quick and easy, but preventing unauthorised visitors entry without permission, thus maintaining high levels of security on site.
