Chiltern Technology has designed a unique system that has simplified our security management, whilst also improving its functionality. It is an intelligent system so we can now remotely monitor the whole estate from one central point, enabling us to spend more time on other tasks.
Following a major robbery in 2003, Chiltern Technology was asked to carry out a full review of security at Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury.
Waddesdon Manor is a magnificent house that was built for the Rothschild’s in the late 19th century and now houses a world-renowned collection of French furniture, paintings and decorative arts. It is a popular tourist attraction, welcoming over 500,000 visitors every year to the house and gardens, as well as being a busy venue for weddings, meetings and functions.
Waddesdon Manor is set in over 160 acres with multiple entrance points from the surrounding countryside. Chiltern Technology first set about designing a system to monitor every gate in the grounds, so that the perimeter of the property was protected. Using their experience in access control, Chiltern Technology fitted each of the gates with an entry system to prevent unauthorised access and detect intruders.
Chiltern Technology then looked at the external zones around the main house as well as numerous other buildings including a large private residence. By careful placement of CCTV cameras, the whole area is now monitored 24 hours a day by the internal security team, who are alerted to anything untoward by a custom alarm system that they are able to define themselves to suit the specific requirements for each area.
Using the very latest technology, this wireless network of cameras is linked to the security gatehouse, where they are able to monitor the entire estate. The intelligent CCTV system analyses movement at the entry points and alerts the security team whenever the alarms are activated.
